Prefab Decorative Building Block

Problems

#1:  Building construction consumes ¼ of all harvested wood, which has placed a tremendous demand on the lumber industry to harvest old growth forest, often in environmentally sensitive areas. 
#2:  Recycle, reuse, and replacement of building materials is very difficult with contemporary construction techniques.  

Solution

 A patented prefabricated decorative, 8”x8”x16” concrete masonry unit (CMU) is presented.  Unlike all other blocks, our CMU provides a recess into which short studs can be securely inserted for the purpose of hanging drywall, insulation and utilities.  Thus, enormous savings can be realized in material, labor, time, and the environment.

Block Features

• Reduces the amount of wood for outside load-bearing wall by half.

• Does not require any additional decorative exterior covering
• Contains a waterproof and moisture-proof seal on the outer decorative surface.
• One block can replace 6 to 8 bricks. That would need to be laid after the walls construction.
